The Fort of Bron is a military construction, part of the defense system created by General Séré de Rivières after the war of 1870 between France and Germany.

Built between 1875 and 1877, it was one of the forts designed to prevent an enemy from approaching the city from the eastern Lyon plain.

Visits or activities by appointment

Visits can be organized for associations and schools, following agreement from the town hall. Please check with our association.

Practical advice

As part of the visits occur on clay soils, we advise you to wear comfortable shoes.

The average temperature in the fort is around 15 °C. Part of the visit occurs outdoors.

People with reduced mobility cannot access the entire route (because of the presence of stairs, slopes, etc.). However, a suitable route can still be organized if requested.

A warm space is provided for you and your bikes to rest. The fort hosts 2 museums which can be visited during the opening hours of the Fort of Bron with free access.
